Gareloch RDA
Welcome to the website of the Gareloch RDA group, enriching lives through horses
The Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) was founded as a national organisation in 1969 and is dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through the provision of horse riding and carriage driving. Our kind and patient horses benefit the lives of over 25,000 disabled children and adults. With fun activities like riding and carriage driving, we provide therapy, fitness, skills development and opportunities for achievement – all supported by 18,000 amazing volunteers and qualified coaches at nearly 500 RDA centres all over the UK.
The Gareloch RDA catchment area includes Helensburgh and neighbouring areas of Cardross, Dumbarton, Clydebank and the Vale of Leven, and sometimes farther afield if another RDA group cannot provide a particular service. All of the sessions take place in Helensburgh, with the carriage driving taking place at Colgrain Equestrian Centre and everything else located at Ardencaple Livery Yard. We are very appreciative of the tremendous support we get from both of these yards.
The following video gives a flavour of our activities.
There is a great deal of further information, including the E-safety Code of Conduct for participants and volunteers, on the National RDA Website.
There are also E-learning Courses available on the RDA Learning website which a number of our volunteers have already done and found very useful.
