Ralph update

For those following the news about our pony, Ralph, who had colic earlier this year, some great news: our vet was delighted with his progress following his op and today allowed him out to play with his fellow RDA ponies! He had a great time, even under the very grey, wet skies today. Ralph has lost weight (doctor’s orders!) and will need to replace lost fat with muscle, so he’ll be returning gently to exercise very soon.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Crowdfunder to help cover his vet bills. With a week to go until the campaign ends, we’re delighted that our original target of £5,000 was achieved and we’ve now set a stretch target of double that! Including Gift Aid, we’ve raised nearly £7,500 – a phenomenal amount that will help us build back after the pandemic and allow us to offer more opportunities for our participants. Can you help us reach £10,000? Whether you’re an individual or have a business that could help us, please get in touch or donate via https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/emergency-vets-bills

A gentle reminder that the National Emergencies Trust Local Action Fund will match funding of up to £250 per donation via the above link, so a little truly will go a long way 😊🐎

Oh well!

We spent hours today getting Breon ready for his dinner date and within 2 minutes of getting back to his field this happened!

Fashion show

23 June: Hats off to everyone who came to our fashion show last night – you helped us raise a phenomenal £1,213! We hope you managed to pick up a few bargains in the process 👗🧥👚👘

Ralph

On the evening of 15 March, poor little Ralph was rushed into the Vet School in Glasgow with colic, needing surgery. He was in hospital for nine days and will not be able to resume his RDA duties until August or September. He was sporting a rather dashing cummerbund after his operation!

He is healing very well and is enjoying an easy life while he recovers.

Inevitably, the medical and recuperation costs have had a huge impact on our financial reserves and we are extremely grateful to the Equine Vet Clinic for contributing a substantial amount of money from their Charity Fund and to the Vet School for their support. We also really appreciate all the individual donors and funds that came forward in our hour of need, including our old friends Buddies in Boats, Arnold Clark Community Fund, Hugh Fraser Foundation, the Co-op, Morrisons and Mrs. David, to name but a few. A crowd fund to pay for Ralph’s was also set up and thank you to everyone who contributed. All donations up to £250 were matched by the National Emergencies Trust Local Action Fund.

Get well soon Ralph!
