…to the website of the Gareloch Group Riding for Disabled Association SCIO (SCO28645)

The RDA was founded as a national organisation in 1969 and is dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through the provision of horse riding and carriage driving.  RDA now has a network of 500 volunteer groups across the UK.

RDA gives individual riders the chance to:

  • Reach therapeutic goals: improve muscle tone and posture, develop motor skills
  • Achieve their personal ambitions: whether this is to sit on a horse for the first time, learn new skills, (or even in some cases compete at Paralympic level)
  • Combat social isolation: build relationships, enjoy events and competition, develop self-confidence
  • Develop life skills: improve communication, take responsibility, be a team player
  • Experience the outdoors: ride in the countryside, access rural Britain
  • Connect with animals: adding a new element to life

The Gareloch RDA, which was founded in 1976, is a registered charity, (SCO28645), affiliated to the national RDA.   We cater for adults, children and young people and have riders with a wide range of disabilities which may be physical or learning disabilities.
